Casa Milagros is a house in the village of Barruera, a small picturesque town in the heart of the Valley of Boí (Pyrenees in Lleida) and where the main services of the Valley can be found (town hall, gas station, swimming pools ...). The village is 1,090 m high, surrounded by striking mountain landscape overlooking the river Noguera Tort, with its calm waters during the summer; it is an attraction for many fishermen and hikers going after some peace and nature during their holidays. It is a perfect starting point for the numerous trips and outings.

Casa Milagros is a typical house of the mountain villages. It stands opposite the village church, worshiping St. Feliu and dates from the twelfth century. Only a year ago, it was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, along with the churches of Assumpció de Cóll, Sta. Maria de Cardet, church of Nativity in Durro, the hermitage of St. Quirc also in Durro, and Sta. Eulàlia de Taüll. This award has meant a major challenge for our valley and all the people who live here, as well as resulting in a significant increase in the number of visitors.

Casa Milagros offers 6 double rooms with bathroom and TV, two kitchens, two dining-living rooms and all have central heating, hot water, and washing machine, and we also sell typical products of the region. On the ground floor of the same building, we have a cosy little bar and restaurant where guests can taste the best steaks in the county and other mountain dishes, and many home-made desserts, mostly prepared by the mistress of the house.

The house is open all year. On August 1, Barruera holds its village festival in honour of St. Feliu, our patron saint. A small wrought iron cross in the centre of the old town reminds us of the ancient Via Crucis, one of the oldest in Catalonia, which having been lost over forty years, it was almost fully recovered four years ago now, giving the village a great reputation and tourist attraction.

From Barruera one may take several hiking and walking routes throughout the valley, such as those accessing Durro, Cardet, Boí or Erill-Avall. From Boi, 5 km from Barruera, can take a taxi to the Aigüestortes National Park, where one can enjoy the unique flora and fauna while strolling around.

10 km Barruera we can visit the spa of Caldes de Boí (open to the public throughout the summer) and from there, head to the dam, la Presa de Cavallers; the cars can be left there to start walking towards the lakes: Estany Negre, Rodó, De les Monges or even the Montardo peak.

Throughout the winter, and for those who like to enjoy the white sport, in our valley, only 20 km from Barruera, you find the new ski Boí -Taüll ski resort, with very high skiing levels, where one can try different types of skiing and other activities such as snowmobile tours or just hiking around.

So this valley -and its lodgings- are the ideal setting for the best and most peaceful holidays, enjoying the scenery, enjoying nature, learning about the Romanesque, tasting our food and discovering all its natural resources at any time of the year.
