The Valley of Aran is found at the most western end of the Catalan Pyrenees. It is the only Pyrenean Valley on the Atlantic Valley Slope. This is a situation with an undeniable influence on geographical and human aspects of the valley. It is the only valley with a completely Atlantic climate, as opposed to the other valleys of the Catalan Pyrenees. The people speak aranès, a language from the Occitan linguistic family). In spring, the water is ever-present and mountains show off all their colours. In winter, snow makes its appearance and with it, the most popular winter sports: ski, excursions on snow shoes, on ski mobiles, or even  heli skiing, hiking, dog sledges and horse sledges; thermalism and museum visiting is another part of it. All year through the visitor may enjoy the wonderful little villages, Romanesque churches around the region and try the varied dishes of our cuisine in the restaurants.
